The United Kingdom Association for European Law was founded in 1974 and brings together all those with an interest in European Union law. Through lectures, webinars and seminars, as well as events specifically tailored to our student members, it promotes a better understanding of EU law and encourages debate on current issues.
The UKAEL represents UK lawyers in the International Federation for European Law (FIDE) which links the national associations of the Member States of the EU by organising the biennial FIDE congress. After Brexit, as the UK branch of FIDE, we continue to be part of an international network of European law associations.
The UKAEL coordinates a variety of interests, addressing practitioners, officials, academics and students alike. The events calendar offers a high-profile annual address and several evening seminars and webinars on current topics in EU law. For students in particular, there is the “EU Law in Practice” event and a Young Researchers workshop.
